New England Adventure 2022 - Day 9

The end is near. Only the end to our Maine adventure but the adventure will continue. We awoke to a beautiful sunrise and a nice sunny day. My first responsibility of the day was to find the best coffee shop in Wells. I did a little research and found a Dunkin Donuts and an Aroma Joe’s coffee. I drove to the DD and there were no cars in line so I kept driving. When I arrived at the Aroma Joe’s coffee there were three cars in line and as soon I joined the line three more cars pulled in behind me. I am in the right place. The locals have spoken. Yes, the Aroma Joe’s coffee is very good.

If you see an Aroma Joe’s, stop.

Priscilla and I walked over to the covered bridge so she could see the monument to the 29 Wells residents that resisted the 400 French and Indians in 1692.

Priscilla posed me to have the same arm angles as the beams.

We drove north to Kennebunkport so we could spend more time sight-seeing. We were able to park across from Walker Point. We walked over the the rocks to the rugged shoreline. The waves were crashing. We had a better view of the Bush compound.

Priscilla captured this great photo of the Bush compound.

We found the pot of gold in downtown Kennebunkport - a free parking spot. What are the odds? We parked and crossed the bridge over the river. We had visited a micro brewery called Federal Jacks when we were at a wedding at the Colonial Hotel several years ago. Our friends Jay and Pat’s daughter Mary was married at the Colonial.

This is the Colonial Hotel. What a great view.

Guess where we are?

Federal Jack’s has an amazing view of the river and all the boats that are still in the harbor. We ordered the clam chowder and the fish and chips. The fish and chips consisted of two huge haddock filets. The chowder was a disappointment. If Federal Jack’s was accused in a court of law of serving clam chowder, there would not be enough clam evidence to convict them. We have enjoyed many delicious clam chowders on this trip and the best is yet to come at Legal Seafood.

Federal Jack’s is a great restaurant and micro brewery.

The fish and chips is the best.

The clam chowder can best be described as potato soup.

This is a fall foliage tour and we are still seeing some fall foliage.

On Thursday we depart Wells, Maine for Framingham, Massachusetts. We will pick up our grandson Jackson from school at 4:30 pm. There is an open mic at the Tackle Box Brewery in Marlboro. My nephew Kael the banjo player will be there. Good times.

For the duration of our trip the blog will be published on an irregular basis as new adventures are experienced.
