Day 64 - time and tide

Miles cruised 0, fuel purchased $0, slip fee TBD, daily high temperature 66*F

Today is our twenty-one day anniversary at Port St. Joe Marina

The weather is clear and cool. A warm up is coming by Thursday with temperatures back in the mid 70’s. No weather window to cross the gulf until at least Monday. We are dropping off the rental car today. Maybe we should keep it if we are going to be here for at least another week?

The Thanksgiving drama has been solved. Local boaters at the marina, Linda and Huen, invited all the Loopers to their house. They say their house is small but it will fit our group. I am estimating 16 will attend. She will provide all the food. We just need to bring our beverages of choice. Linda and her husband were cruising from Florida to Texas and stopped in Port St. Joe and never left. Eventually they tired of living on their boat and bought a house.

I met Loopers from Wilson, NY. Linda and her husband are cruising on their 60′ sailboat. Wilson is the home port of our boat Changing Latitudes formerly Rock Me. We picked up our boat from Wilson a little over two years ago and brought her to Chicago via the Welland Ship Canal, Lake Erie and Lake Huron. That was a lumpy cruise.

We had a nice trip to St. George Island and Cape San Blas. There are beautiful white sandy beaches. We enjoyed watching the sunset from swinging chairs at Cape San Blas. No green flash tonight.

The beach erosion at Cape San Blas is quite severe. These condos will soon fall into the sea. For sale – cheap!

On Tuesday the trip to drop off the rental car was uneventful. Priscilla drove the rental car and I drove Terrill’s pick up truck. We stopped to shop at Target in Panama City. Priscilla picked up a few Christmas items and we bought wine to bring to our hosts on Thanksgiving.

George Hospador must be feeling better. He had a bad cold and we had not seen him for several days. George and Pat invited us to their boat Reflections for sundowners at 5:00 pm today.

Good Morning Fellow Loopers!
Who left the door open last night and let all this cold air in? Those of you in south Florida need to send a little sympathy up to your brethren in the Panhandle, who are “suffering” in this morning’s 40 degree temps!

Although our daily temperatures will steadily increase during the course of the week, the waves in the Gulf will also! The forecast sites all agree that sea conditions will remain quite turbulent for the next 5 days (thru Saturday). The “roll the dice”, 7 day forecasts show relief starting around the 30th (next Monday).

Be well, keep safe, and stay happy!

Notice how the wind is forecast to drop below 10 mph and the waves drop below 1.5 feet on Tuesday.  That is a week away.  We shall see.
