Day 56 - Relaxing and waiting — Captain Father John

Miles cruised 0, fuel purchased $0, slip fee TBD, high temperature 85*F

All is quiet on the panhandle. We will spend the next several days relaxing and waiting for parts. The weather has been very windy for several days and this trend is forecasted to continue through the end of the week. Boats are beginning to stack up waiting for a weather window and are not moving to the jumping off point near Carrabelle due to winds and waves.

We attended a Methodist church this morning. We enjoyed and got a lot out of the service lead by a young, vibrant pastor who connected well with the church members. He delivered a sermon about being thankful which was well received by the group. We were warmly welcomed by the parishioners and invited to stay and join them in an annual brunch. We had French toast, egg casserole, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, and orange juice. Several people asked if they could join us and we had a wonderful conversation. We will join the group again for dinner and a Bible study Wednesday evening. During the afternoon we traveled to Cape San Blas about 10 miles south of Port St. Joe. Cape San Blas is a 17-mile long barrier peninsula, curving around St. Joseph Bay offering playful surf and white sand beaches on the Gulf side and smooth, shallow water the Bay side. The Cape is known for its clear, sometimes blue, sometimes green water and low, gentle surf. Families who vacation on the Cape choose this spot for both its beauty and its seclusion. We took a long walk on the beach. The beach is made up of sand that squeaks when you walk on it. I had only experienced this once before on a beach north of Manchester By The Sea, a town north of Boston on the Atlantic coast. The following are two views of Cape San Blas.
