Day 182 - Six months behind us and six months more to go

Miles cruised 6, fuel purchased $0, slip fee $20, daily high temperature 70°f

We will compete our Loop trip in September. Six more months to go until we cross our wake in Waukegan. We have already made arrangements for Changing Latitudes to have inside heated storage for next winter. If there are any would be Loopers out there, you can buy CL and start your own Loop trip in September, 2016. She knows the way.

The wind shifted NE and blew 20 – 25 mph all night. It is directly on our bow so except making our AGLCA burgee flap it was a relatively quiet night. The wind clocked more during the day until it was blowing due east.

Bill and Kellirae stopped by for a visit and then we all went back to Captain Jack’s for Tuesday taco night. Two tacos for $5.50. By far the best deal we have seen in the Bahamas.

On Wednesday we bid farewell to Bill and Kellirae and cruised 6 miles to Man O War Cay for a change of scenery. Man O War was settled by the Albury family after the revolutionary War. They were Loyalists sympathetic to King George. Today 70% of the inhabitants of Man O War Cay are named Albury.

We entered the north mooring field and were hailed by John and Jan on Mitzvah and Jim and Gwen on Chimera. We picked up a mooring and were immediately visited by David ( you guessed it ) Albury to collect his $20 a night for the mooring.

We went ashore and visited several gift shops. Priscilla bought a table runner. We observed the boat construction going on in the harbour. They are building fiberglass boats called Alburys. We visited the Albury sail loft where they were sewing various items out of sailcloth. Lunch at the Man O War Marina was very nice. Priscilla and I shared a cheese steak wrap. Not Caribbean but delicious. Andy bought fresh cinnamon rolls from a vendor that only sells her baked goods one day per week.

The crews of Mitzvah and Chimera come over at 5:00 for sundowners. I took out my ukulele and played a few tunes. One of my more popular songs is Johnny Cash’s Cocaine Blues. John on Mitzvah is a guitar player. I hope we will get to hear him play one of these days. It is my pleasure to introduce Jim and Gwen from Ontario, Canada.
