Delivery - Day 6
We did not change latitudes today. We stayed over in Rogers City, Michigan. The only boat on the dock. The blowy conditions continued all night and day. The lake looks like the north Atlantic in the victory at sea documentary.
The Rogers City Hurons lost 55 – 6. The Chinese restaurant was OK. We had the leftovers for lunch.
We did some shopping and will replace the diesel engine breather filters today. The very rough conditions we have been motoring in have caused some oil splash and clogged the breather filters. We will not run the boat as hard in the future. We spent all morning trying to locate four of Volvo Penta filters. Most boat yards are already closed for the season. We finally found them in Charlevoix which is 100 miles away. No rental cars available in Rogers City so we had Jack of Charlevoix Taxi bring them to us. We know Jack from the times we stayed at the Irish Boat Shop in Charlevoix.
We bought “the Best Beef Jerky in the World” at Plath’s Meat market. $25.00 a pound. We shall see.
College football on the TV. All is well.
Tomorrow, (Sunday) weather permitting, we will motor to Leland, Michigan. That is about 130 miles. Their fuel dock is still open. Winds will be from the NW and be on our nose until we round the northern most tip of Michigan and start to head south on Lake Michigan.
Fuel-o-file update – today’s fuel burn = 0 gallons.
