Miles cruised 0, fuel purchased $0, slip fee $45, daily high temperature 70°fThe weather is looking better for a possible Bahamas crossing on Tuesday or Wednesday. Please note we have three separate contributions for the quote of the day.Joy ( Andy's sister ) and her husband Jim got off the boat and drove to Cape Canaveral to visit their daughter. John and Priscilla got off the boat and took the TriRail train from Ft. Lauderdale to Mongrove. Mongrove is north of West Palm Beach. We are visiting with Dan and Iris Carlson for a few days. Dan and Iris have been visiting Florida each winter since 1978. They have taken eating at local restaurants to an epicurean art form. They are familiar with the miriad of restaurants in the Stuart area. On Thursday night we ate at "Gettin Crabby" an out of the way eclectic little spot with great seafood. On Friday night we ate at the "Sailor's Return" at the Sunset Marina. Iris ordered the whole red snapper. The Sunset Marina is a good choice for us to keep CL upon our return from the Bahamas. The marina is located in downtown Stuart and is within easy walking distance of stores, shops and restaurants. When we return from the Bahamas we will have 24 hours to check in with US Customs at the West Palm Beach Airport.Dan and John enjoying a pint at Gettin Crabby.Holly and Fritz Hanselman held an open house at their new condo at the Tarpon Bay Yacht Club. Our friends from Lake Bluff, Carol ( Cut-It ) Caldwell and Dave Gurbach, were there as well as Holly's patents Dave and Bev. The Tarpon Bay Yacht Club condos are loaded with long time boaters and circumnavigators. Many still have boats at the yacht club marina. The marina charges $1.00 per foot per month for the slip fee for condo residents.Bonus photoDale Arnold - quote of the day.“If you are too obsessed with success, you will forget to live,” Thomas Merton..Carl (Chef) Wooden - quote of the day.A person does not grow from the ground like a vine or a tree, one is not part of a plot of land. Mankind has legs so it can wander. - Roman Payne, The WanderessDave (Mac) McKenna - quote of the day. Thanks for the photo and naming me a "contributor". To be thought of as such is an honor indeed. That being said, all this talk of the wind reminded me of a short poem that I learned in High School (we had to recite a poem in class and this was the shortest one I could find). It's weird that I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday but I remember this ditty from 40 odd years ago.The Winds of Fate by Ella Wheeler WilcoxOne ship drives east and another drives westWith the self-same winds that blow;'Tis the set of the sailsAnd not the galesThat tells them the way to go.Like the winds of the sea are the winds of fateAs we voyage along through life;'Tis the set of the soulThat decides its goalAnd not the calm or the strife.
