Taipei Taiwan - April 4, 2014 - Student unrest
Dick Chan and I took a cab back to our hotel from a DIY store. The cab driver pulls into a street full of riot police. The police yell at the cab to get out. The cab driver says we can easily walk to the hotel but he can't get any closer. So we get out in the middle of no mans land surrounded by barbed wire barricades and riot police in full riot gear with shields. We are directed down the street to another barricade and finally weave our way out.
The students are protesting the Taiwan Governments trade policy with China. My hotel is right across the street from ground zero which is the government tax office. We shall see how this plays out.
Work, work, work,
J.
