Day 13 - There is little current in little current

Every once in a while we need to get help from SIRI to understand a boat’s name. OK – test your skills. The boat name is Anxiolytic
What is the definition? Answer will appear later in this email.

It was a layover day in Little Current. The forecast was for gale force winds later in the day so we made the good decision to stay put at the dock. It is always a relaxing day when we do not start the engines and move to a new harbor.

We spent the day touring the harbor in the dingy, shopping and napping.

So lest you think life is perfect aboard Changing Latitudes I will reveal the warts we have found while living aboard. Yes after nearly two weeks of living on our boat and using and abusing our systems here is the repair punch list.

1. The upper deck ice maker is not making ice.

2. The aft anchor light bulb needs to be replaced.

3. The house battery only lasts five hours after a full charge before it runs down and the CO2 low voltage alarm goes off. If we charge the house battery at midnight my low battery alarm wake up call is 5 AM. The main voltage draw is the 12 year old Tundra 12 volt refrigerator. This is only an issue when we are on the hook. Plugged in at the dock – no worries.

4. The combination washer/dryer is leaking when we do laundry on the boat.

5. The remote control on the hydraulic swim platform is not working. A person has to push the button on the stern unit.

The more stuff you have the more stuff you need to maintain and repair.

An anxiolytic is an anti-anxiety drug.

We have a great view of the harbor from our dock space on the end of C dock. We have a perfect view of the swing bridge and watch the parade of boats circling and waiting for the bridge to open on the hour. That will be us tomorrow. The boat tied to the dock in front of us is a sister ship a 2004 Cruisers 455. She is 16,000 pounds heavier and two feet wider. Her name is “Heaven Too” from Charlevoix, Michigan.

Today there was little current in Little Current. Since Little Current is on a narrow opening between the North Channel and Georgian Bay there can be a lot of current running east or west. There is a hobby horse shaped channel marker in the middle of the harbor to show how much and from which direction the current is running. This is important information when you are trying to tie up at the dock. Check out today’s photo to see how much current is running.

Dale called the marina at Killarney to let them know we were not coming today. We will go to Killarney on Wednesday and then you will get to learn how Killarney got its name.

We will have dinner at the Anchor Inn again tonight. We went to the Anchor Inn this morning for the Cruiser’s Net broadcast. Roy Eaton is on vacation so Margaret filled in. She did a great job. Dale and I did not stay to hear the call in from all 119 boats.

Here is the proof that there is little current in Little Current.
