Day 19 - The a team
I love it when a plan comes together. We made the right decision to stay in Harbor Springs for two days. We are so well protected that we didn’t feel much breeze. That is when you start second guessing yourself. Maybe we could have made a move today. This morning a Cruisers 540 took the slip next to us. The racing fleet had departed for home earlier that morning. The boat named Paragon had come 10 miles from Charleviox. They has planned to go to Mackinac Island but after sticking their bow out into the main lake and dealing with 6 – 8 foot seas they diverted to Harbor Springs.
When the sailboat departed from the slip next to us they created a first world problem for the 54′ Sea Ray next to them. The Sea Ray had their mega dingy with a 70 hp engine tied near their stern. With the sailboat next to them there was room to get the dingy out. With the Cruisers 540 next them with a wider beam, the dingy was trapped. There was some discussion between the two captains and Paragon moved to the face dock across from Seaquest. They said they thought had better chance to be invited aboard Seaquest for sundowners now that they were closer.
The Seaquest mega yacht was joined by two more yachts owned by the family that started Amway Corp. Pyramid schemes do pay off from time to time.
We went to Turkey’s restaurant for lunch and I had a turkey ceaser wrap. I thought it was appropriate to have turkey at Turkey’s. One correction, the Turk did not pull a ham string. He sprained his ankle then he sprained his other ankle which is why he wobbled like a turkey when he walked. The Turk is doing well. His restaurant was packed on Monday at 1:00 pm.
Another first world problem overheard in an upscale toy store in Harbor Springs. Man on the cell phone calls over to his wife – my pilot can’t get our jet out of Cleveland to pick us up this afternoon due to weather.
There is a concert in the park at the end of our dock at. 8:00 pm. These things make the trip more enjoyable. For diner I will cook the pork chops on the community grill in the park and bring them back to the boat. The propane grill that came with the boat is not working well.
