Days 112 and 113 - Pete and Wayne
Miles cruised 0, fuel purchased $0, slip fee $133, daily high temperature 71*f low temperature 65*f.
A norther blew through on Monday night with a vengeance. Once again we were glad to not be spinning on our hook. Dinner consisted of Mahi Mahi and cero mackerel made into giant soft tacos. We are still enjoying our bounty from our fishing adventures.
Priscilla and I wandered over to Sloppy Joe’s to listen to Pete and Wayne. However Pete and Wayne only play there on Thursday – Saturday. Tonight’s band was the Durfees. They are a family of red headed boys that cruise the music circuit. They are ages 16 – 22 with a special guest singer who is 5 years old. A strange act for a late night bar but these boys rocked it including the theme song from Deliverance.

The libations
We have confirmed our next long term marina in Ft Lauderdale. We will stay at Marina Bay February 8 – 24, which is where Bev and Dave Feiges are docked on Cloverdale. Bev and Dave are Holly Hanselmann’s parents. Holly and her husband Fritz will be visiting Bev and Dave while we are there. Dale and Andy will fly to Chicago to celebrate Andy’s decade birthday with their family. When they return John and Priscilla will fly to Chicago to visit Eleanor. As with all the south Florida marinas it hard to get a reservation. Fortunately Bev and Dave have a strong relationship with Marina Bay and were able to get us in. This timing is during the Miami Boat Show so I will attend the show in my new capacity as a boat broker. This will be a great opportunity to learn about a vast number of different boats.
With the help of George and Pat Hospodar we able to reserve a slip at the Marathon Yacht Club using reciprocity from the Waukegan Yacht Club. We will stay there on February 1 and 2, King Neptune willing. Then we need to figure out where to stay on our way to Ft Lauderdale. Our friend Bill Valters has made that trip many times so he will be a good resource.
The weather is not cooperating for our trip to the Dry Totugas. We will stay one extra day at the Galleon but have to move slip to slip 29. Then we will need to arrive at the Stock Island Marina a day earlier than planned.

“In one drop of water are found all the secrets of all the oceans.” – Kahlil Gibran
Khalil Gibran Khalil Gibran – (January 6, 1883 – April 10, 1931) was a Lebanese-American artist, poet, and writer of the New York Pen League.
As a young man Khalil emigrated with his family to the United States, where he studied art and began his literary career, writing in both English and Arabic. In the Arab world, Gibran is regarded as a literary and political rebel. His romantic style was at the heart of a renaissance in modern Arabic literature, especially prose poetry, breaking away from the classical school. In Lebanon, he is still celebrated as a literary hero.
He is chiefly known in the English-speaking world for his 1923 book The Prophet an early example of iinsprirational-fiction including a series of philosophical essays written in poetic English prose. The book sold well despite a cool critical reception, gaining popularity in the 1930s and again especially in the 1960’s counterculture. Gibran is the third best-selling poet of all time, behind Shakespeare and Laozi.
