Day 78 - Kazakhstan

Miles cruised 0, fuel purchased $0, slip fee $0, daily high temperature 73*F

ATTENTION – gentle readers – John and Priscilla are flying to Boston on Tuesday and Dale and Andy will be visiting relatives on Marco Island. The blog may take a hiatus from time to time. Fear not – we will be cruising to Key West on December 14 (weather permitting) so the blog will resume no later than December 14.

It is raining again and it is only raining on us. North and south it is sunny. At least we do not have to wash the salt off the boat. Mother Nature is taking care of that.

For those of you that were concerned about our third world situation on Marco Island, we now have electricity and trash pick up. In good conscience, I could not have left Dale and Andy here under less than perfect conditions.

This is the front view of the house where we are tied up to the dock.

This is our private pool. Life is good on Marco Island.

Priscilla and John took a dingy ride up and down the canals and ended up at the Esplanade. We wandered the the streets checking out the local restaurants. We ended up eating dinner at Mango’s at the marina where we could keep an eye on our dingy. CJ’s was packed so we didn’t go there. Our waiter Sertec was very attentive. I wanted to ask him a question regarding liberating some vey nice plastic water glasses with their logo. He thought I wanted to guess where he was from. My first guess was Kazakhstan. He said close so I guessed Turkey and I was right. World traveling has its benefits.

Our dingy in the dark.

Riding back to the boat after dinner by dingy on flat water and a starry sky was magical. I used my Larry light (Larry Berliant gave us an LED flashlight as a Bon Voyage gift) to light up the channel markers. Priscilla is a master dingy driver.

Check out our first world robotic navigation light.

Our hero Chris Weber is picking us up at 8:00 am to drive us to the Ft Meyers airport.
