Day 22 - Omnipresent
Happy Columbus Day
Miles cruised 42 , fuel purchased 149 gallons, total fuel cost $379, price per gallon $2.54, slip fee $45, daily high temperature 84*F – Kathy Levine requested that I add the high temperature each day.
Last night Priscilla and I got off the boat and gave Dale and Andy some “me” time. We were gone for over two hours and Dale and Andy had dinner on the boat alone. This was the first time in three weeks that the couples had been apart for any length of time. If you can call two hours a length of time. The relationship of two couples on a boat is best described as omnipresent. The definition of omnipresent is “present everywhere at the same time.”
We are at the Florence Marina in Florence, Alabama. Fortunately we called for a slip reservation yesterday because they are full to capacity with Loopers. All the Loopers had the same idea we did to stay at Florence for the night and transit the two locks in the morning. We are a 50′ boat on a 30′ slip but we are tied up and have power. One of the most useful items we bought is a double 30 amp pigtail for the power cord. When we cannot get 50 amp power we can tap into two 30 amp outlets to run the boat. Tonight is game three of the baseball playoffs so we need power. No roof overhead tonight to block our satellite dish.
We saw Nuclear Fishin’ and Chasing 80 as we entered the marina. I am sure we will see more of our Looper pals as we wander around the docks. Larry from Lady KK was on another boat that passed us doing 30 mph on the river. They rolled us then called us to say hello. What goes around comes around.

I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble.
Carl (Chef) Wooden – quote for the day.
Boats, like whiskey, are all good – R. D. Culler
Tomorrow is the big day. We will finally arrive at Joe Wheeler State Park Marina for the Looper Rendezvous. Registration starts at 3 pm on Wednesday.
Columbus Day was a not good day for the indigenous peoples.
Here we are in Alabama with a ukulele on my knee.
