Delivery - day 9
These moments we’re left with, May you always remember, These moments are shared by few
And those harbor lights
Aw they’re coming into view
We bid our farewell much too soon, It’s been a lovely cruise – JB
The epic journey across four of the five Great Lakes has ended.
We arrived at Larsen Marine in Waukegan at 2:30 pm.
We traveled almost 1,000 miles, stopped in eight ports
and most importantly learned a lot about the boat. We are pleased with every aspect of the boat’s accommodations and performance.
The delivery crew included Dale Arnold (partner in the boat), Priscilla (my wife) and Chris Weber of Weber Yacht Sales. How is that for after sales service! He spent 10 days helping us bring the boat from Wilson, NY to Waukegan and taught us how to run her. Well done.
Looking back on the trip we crossed four of the five Great Lakes – Ontario, Erie, Huron and Michigan. The only Great Lake we did not cross was Superior.
Many people helped us along the way. Opening marinas to allow us to get fuel and arranging to deliver the dingy to heated storage.
All in all it was a good introduction to what life will be on the Great Loop except the loop will have much warmer weather and flat seas. The Great Loop is 6,500 miles long so we just completed a mini loop of just over 15%.
Fuel-o-file update – total fuel burned – 1,650 gallons = $6,600.
Today’s photo – Captains John and Dale are accepting any and all donations to the diesel fuel fund.
