Delivery - Days 2 and 3

Day 2 - the wind was blowing over 30 mph and the waves on Lake Erie were 7 - 9 feet.  A good day to lay over in Port Colbourn, Canada.  We needed a rest after transiting 8 locks the day before.  We took the opportunity to go food shopping and pick up a few odds and ends.   The Dollar Store has great value for all the items we needed.  Day 3 - Today we traveled 205 miles east to west almost full length of Lake Erie.  When you travel east to west you change longitudes not latitudes. We departed Port Colbourn, Canada at 4 am. The waves were only 2  - 3 feet until noon when they were 4 - 6 feet.  It is suggested that you take your boat out in less than ideal weather so you can find out how it handles.  We were able to cruise at 20 kts  with 4-6 foot beam seas.  It was amazing. We had a bit of a challenge keeping our Avon dingy with a 40 hp engine attached to the swim platform. It kept bouncing off the cradle no matter how well we tied it down. We will leave it in Sandusky and pick it up in a month or two.  The weather forecast is ominous so we do not want to continue to have problems that will slow us down. We arrived in Sandusky, Ohio at 3 pm and took on almost 400 gallons of diesel fuel.  That was what we burned today. We fueled up at the Cedar Point amusement park marina.  Tonight we are staying at the Sandusky Yacht Club.  They have steamed clams on the menu.Tomorrow we will arrange for storage of the dingy and then try to get to Port Huron which is 134 miles up the Detroit River.
